Hakuba · Nagano

A small hideaway in Hakuba, between mountains and sky.

A garden, foot bath and sauna facing the Northern Alps — a Japanese-modern retreat where ease and quiet meet.

SCROLL

Story

True luxury is simply being close to nature.

At the foot of the Northern Alps lies Hakuba — where mountain air, open skies, and ever-changing scenery come together. It was this landscape, never quite the same twice, that drew us to build a small chalet here.In winter, soak your feet while gazing out at a world blanketed in snow. In summer, take a sauna in the garden under a sky full of stars.A place to experience Hakuba's seasons not as a visitor, but as if you truly lived here.

Exceptional! Every day we could hardly believe our luck at staying somewhere so beautifully designed. Cosy, well appointed and brand new, with comfy beds and everything we needed. The location was great too — bus stops for the ski resorts sit right by the court or a short stroll from Echoland. Hope was an amazing host, forever thinking of ways to help, right down to step-by-step directions from Tokyo. The foot bath and fire pit were ours to use whenever we liked, the snow was cleared for us, and she spoiled us with lovely little extras. Brilliant!

FAQ

A few questions, answered before you book.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is 15:00 and check-out is by 10:00. Self check-in lets you arrive at a time that suits you, and we can store your luggage after check-out.

How many guests can stay?

Up to four guests. There are two bedrooms (one queen bed and single twin beds) across 57㎡.

Is there parking?

Yes — two free on-site parking spaces are available, ready to use when you arrive by car.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes — Wi-Fi is available throughout, so it works well for remote work and workations.

Is there a kitchen and cooking equipment?

A mini kitchen is fully equipped (IH stove, microwave, rice cooker, fridge, cookware and seasonings). Outside there is a BBQ grill, a fire pit, and dining set. All free to use.

Can we use the sauna?

Yes — a private sauna and cold bath for up to four are available. From the deck foot bath you can see the ridgeline of the Northern Alps while you unwind.

Is laundry free to use?

Yes — a drum washer-dryer and a gas dryer are provided, so longer stays stay light and easy.

How is access to the ski slopes?

We are in the heart of Hakuba Village, with easy access to all ten Hakuba Valley resorts. Nakiyama slope and the shuttle stop are moments away.

What are the nightly rates and minimum stay?

Yama & Sora is available as an exclusive whole-house rental for up to four guests. Rates vary by season, number of guests, and length of stay — all prices are per property, per night, tax included.

- Green Season (Apr–Nov): from ¥58,000 / 2-night minimum
- Snow Season (Dec–Mar): from ¥120,000 / 4-night minimum

Cleaning fee, accommodation tax, bedding, basic amenities, private sauna, cold plunge, and deck foot bath are all included. No hidden extras. Check the booking calendar for live availability and exact pricing.

Is there a drying room?

We don't have a dedicated drying room, but there's a lockable board rack outside and a dehumidifier dryer and boot dryer in the indoor closet.

What is the nearest station or transport hub?

We are within a five-minute taxi ride from Hakuba Station and the bus terminal. We are happy to arrange a taxi for your check-in and check-out if needed.

Are there restaurants and bars nearby?

Echoland — Hakuba's most vibrant dining and bar district — is right on our doorstep. You will never be short of options.

Are there any supermarkets or convenience stores nearby?

There is a convenience store about a ten-minute walk away, and a supermarket just three minutes by car.

Is it a whole-house rental?

The building includes a private owner's residence, but it is completely separate from the guest space. You have your own entrance, and the bedrooms are soundproofed for a restful night. And with your host just next door, you can count on a level of care that a fully remote rental simply cannot offer.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms vary by plan and season. Please check the booking conditions on our reservation page for the latest policy.

How do we get there from Tokyo?

Take the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano Station (about 80 minutes), then the express bus to Hakuba (about 60 minutes). Direct highway buses also run from Shinjuku.

Is there a hot spring nearby?

Yes — the natural hot spring at Hotel Minamiya is just a two-minute walk away, so you can enjoy a proper onsen. There are also many other hot springs nearby to explore.

Can we stay with children?

Yes, families are very welcome. Children aged 2 and under stay free of charge, up to two per booking (no bedding, not counted toward occupancy). Children aged 3 and over are counted as one guest, the same as an adult.
